Learning 1 song a week, and 100 subscribers!

I filmed another piano video today, it’s a song called “The Heart Asks Pleasure First” and it’s by Michael Nyman. This piece is gorgeous, it’s from the movie “The Piano”. When I first heard this song I really wanted to learn it. But it was too hard for me at the time. Now I’m at the point where I can learn complex pieces like this, and it took me a couple of days to get it down. I used to sight read through it a lot so I kinda knew the song before, which is why it only took me 3 days.

Yesterday I reached 100 YouTube subscribers! I’m very happy that my channel’s growing and more people are seeing my piano videos. Music really brings people together and we get to share our talents on there. There’s an encouraging piano community on YouTube, we subscribe and comment positive things on eachother’s videos. I’ve gotten nothing but good comments so far.

The reason I started making piano videos was I wanted to track my progress, and learn more songs that I liked. There’s a lot of music I want to learn, and by learning 1 song a week I cross more of my faves on my list. For example, this song by Michael Nyman was a song I wanted to play for a few years. In the process of learning more songs, it gets easier each time. With every new song, I get better at piano, and my genre knowledge expands. I get bored with songs easily, it’s hard for me to work on a piece for more than 1 month so keeping it to 1 week is perfect for me. It’s very fun for me to look back and see my repertoire get bigger, and see more piano videos on my channel.

Now I have to think about what to play next!
